The name “Gatetrix” was conjured from the flag ship gate contact being a “trick for gates”.  Our gate contact allows electric fencing to be continued across a gate, thus continuing to act as a deterrent to all livestock,  rather than burying a cable underground.

Gatetrix supply "solutions" for electric fencing.  This originated from sheer frustration with existing electric fencing solutions!  When we moved to our current property in 2004, we were left with the choice of leaving a gate on the perimeter of our land either unprotected, by burying the electric tape underground, or with gate hooks across the gate.  We chose the latter, with a hook on each of the three tapes in line with the fencing around the rest of the field.  The hooks were cumbersome from the inside of the gate, but impossible from the outside!
Trevor, an electrician by trade, designed the original gate contact which won an innovation award at BETA 2007.  It is a simple process where the contact allows the electric current across when the gate is closed, does not interfere with the gate operation, and does not require electric tapes to be dropped to the ground (and arc!)
Trevor also identified two further annoyances with the electric fencing we purchased at the time.  The first was the quality of the plastic insulators, which were made of weak plastic that degraded over only a few months, becoming mishapen with a 'stretched' affect.  The second was how the tape was tensioned was fiddly and difficult to unfasten.  We have resolved these issues by utilising a high quality plastic for our insulator which is extremely robust and will not degrade from the extremes of the weather, and creating a slide pin system for fastening to the tape to the tensioners.  This allows the tape to be released easily, which not only makes fencing adjustments easier but would be invaluable in the unfortunate scenario of a horse being entangled.  We have heard so many horror stories of such situations while speaking to people about our system and "if only we had your system then".
We have added a number of additional innovative tensioners and gate contacts to our range, and are constantly doing so: we have around 10 further products that we hope to release either Spring or Summer 2008.
We only manufacture in the UK and will continue to do so!
We have become BSJA Business Partners and are using this as a platform for our brand awareness programme over the forthcoming months.
